Dear,
For several months, the Departmental Textile Museum in Labastide Rouairoux in the Tarn, and the Museum of the Hat Making in Esperaza in Aude, worked together to offer you an educational stay for schools in fashion, clothing, design, sewing, creation … allowing high school students to discover a still alive part of the epic of the carded sheep wool industry, that fashion designers and fashion dressmakers have used.
The CHAP & TILE stay revolves around two industrial poles of the South of Tarn and Aude in the production of fabrics and wool hats.
During these few days, you will be able to visit the Departmental Textile Museum, housed in an old 19th century factory, presenting in the sounds of textile machines still in operation, the manufacture of woolen fabrics, completed by participation in creative workshops around the textiles (spinning, dyeing, industrial paths …), and visit the Museum of Hatmaking which presents the stages of manufacture of hats made of wool felt, to be completed by visiting the manufacturing factory "Chapeaux de France" which is located in the neighboring town of Montazels.
The cost for each high school student was fixed at 10.00 € (5.00 € per site including visits to museums, participation in workshops and visit of the factory).
We wished to set up a 3-day program including the transport times.
Accommodation and food costs must be added; since we are used to welcome groups, we can offer you in Labastide Rouairoux, and in Quillan, near Esperaza, accommodation and catering facilities.
